Hospital Municipal Albert Schweitzer

Brazilian public hospital center, located in the neighborhood of Realengo, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, a reference in urgent and emergency care for the entire West Zone of the city. Inaugurated in 1982 and municipalized in January 2016, it has the capacity to serve up to 12 thousand people per month, in the following specialties and services: Internal Medicine, General and Pediatric Surgery, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Neonatology and Intensive Care (adult, pediatric and neonatal). It has more than 2,500 employees, 396 beds, of which 102 are intensive care units (ICU). In 2011, a new maternity hospital was inaugurated, with 54 beds and the capacity to perform 300 monthly deliveries, with 23 neonatal ICU beds. Throughout 2020, it carried out around 135,000 urgent and emergency calls. Since April 30, 2021, the Albert Schweitzer has been managed by Viva Rio.
